🧭 Why This Experience

The Lovers' Lane — a flat cliff-cut promenade between Riomaggiore and Manarola, reopened in 2024 after twelve years of restoration, its railings once again heavy with initials. The easiest walk on the coast and the most romantic twenty minutes in Liguria.

🏛️ The Backstory

Blasted in the 1920s as a service path between rail tunnels, it became 'Via dell'Amore' when courting couples from the two villages met halfway — a 2012 rockfall closed it, and the €20-million reopening was a national event.

💡 Worth Knowing

Access now runs on timed tickets with capped numbers — book ahead in season. The name was allegedly coined by a local journalist in the 1950s; the padlocks-and-initials tradition predates Paris's bridges by decades, the villages claim, naturally.
